Newsletter December 2009

Newsletter December 2009

Welcome to my last newsletter of 2009. The time is here to reflect on the past twelve months, with their many challenges for so many of us and to offer gratitude for having been through them in the best way possible. Let us spend some time centering ourselves by breathing deeply and allowing all tension to drain from our bodies. Visualize peace and lightness filling you, calming your emotions and strengthening your spirit.

Using simple tools like visualization and meditation can help us connect more deeply with our inner self, which allows us to regain our calm regardless of our external circumstances. Choosing to be in charge of our feelings now, will allow us to stay grounded and nonreactive in our social interactions.

Our card reading for this month is from Isis, the much-revered Egyptian Goddess who symbolizes feminine strength and power. She can help you find enough time and energy to enjoy all aspects of your life, if you ask for her assistance.
Balance Career and Home Life

This is a reminder to keep balance in your life. You can do this more easily than you may imagine. You already know which part of your life is lopsided, and you may be feeling symptoms of burnout from this imbalance. You can rapidly shift your energy in positive ways by devoting time each day to your priorities. Even 30 minutes a day spent in meaningful ways will lift your mood, morale and motivation.

Play is a much-needed requirement for you right now. Make sure that your needs are being met. Delegate work to others. Say no to unrealistic demands upon your time and be honest with yourself and keep healthy boundaries in your work and home life. Spend more time devoted to activities that make your heart sing with joy.

Awareness of Thoughts

Mind-watching is a simple method of starting to become aware of the activities of the mind. It focuses awareness on the moment and introduces objectivity and detachment. It is a simple technique which can be done several times a day.

Noticing your thoughts is a preliminary step towards meditation. Watching the movement of your thoughts and becoming aware of your thinking process is a first step in gaining insight.

Make yourself comfortable in a place where there are minimal outside stimuli. Settle your body. Relax and become aware of your breathing. Close your eyes.
Sit quietly and focus inward. Feel your body. Feel the movement in your chest as you breathe.
Thoughts will rise up in your mind. Allow this to happen with an attitude of detachment. Remain an observer. Simply notice what you are thinking.
If you do not engage with the thoughts, they will come and go. Allow them to move in and out of your field of focus. Notice the type of thought. Name it to yourself, planning, remembering, worrying, imagining, criticizing, and fantasizing.
Remain objective. Be aware of when you are starting to participate in the thought. Let go when you notice this happening. Return to simply observing.
When you are pulled into an obsessive thought, focus on your breathing. Take a couple of slow, deep breaths. Feel your chest expand. Feel your chest contract. Release the breath. Feel your body. Check that it is relaxed.
Sit quietly. Notice the next thought that arises. Name the thought. Sit quietly. Notice the next thought. Name it.
Continue watching your thoughts for at least five minutes at a time. Allow the process to happen without any judgement or interference. Just watch.

Words of Wisdom
“A person who is awakened no longer marches to the drum of society, but dances to the tune of the music that springs up from within.”

Pre-Shampoo Treatment

If your hair is naturally dry or has become dry due to over shampooing, over bleaching, over colouring or too much sun or illness, both hair and scalp will benefit from the following treatment.

Egg and Honey Treatment for Dry, Damaged or Fine Hair
1 egg yolk, beaten
2 teaspoons castor oil
1 teaspoon runny honey
Dried milk powder, to mix
2 drops sandalwood essential oil
2 drops clary sage essential oil

Mix the egg, castor oil, and honey together then add enough dried milk to make a very soft paste. Add the essential oils and mix well.
Rub the paste thoroughly into the hair and scalp.
Cover hair with a plastic shower cap and then wrap the whole head in a hot towel. Alternatively, wrap the head in a towel wrung out in very hot water.
Leave for 20 minutes.
Shampoo with a mild herbal shampoo.

Feeling grounded and serene amidst conflict
When people around you are confrontational, it could result in you putting your guard up to protect yourself. Consider stepping away from conflict by fostering a demeanor of calm self-containment in the face of conflict. Simply take some time alone to get into a relaxed state of mind and envision yourself being filled with soothing energy. Visualize this energy balancing and grounding you so that you feel completely calm, centered, and peaceful. You should then have the strength and presence to interact calmly with others, regardless of their mood.

Adopting a mind-set of grounded serenity allows us to be in charge of our emotions when interacting with others. When the moods and attitudes of others begin to upset us, it is usually a clear sign that we are allowing people or circumstances to affect our moods. If we cultivate a strong sense of serenity and strength from within, we are giving ourselves the power to choose how we feel in any situation. We are then free to decide how we wish to respond to the words and actions of others.

To everyone out there, I offer my heartfelt congratulations for having survived this year in a sane frame of mind; go ahead and pat yourself on the back, you deserve it! 2009 was a year of disruptive, dense energies, which brought many challenges to so many people living on the planet now.

Next year the energies will change to a less dense vibration, so we will see fast moving changes and challenges coming our way. Allow yourself to embrace the changes that feel right to your heart, don’t allow yourself to stay in limbo with fear of change. Change is the only constant in our lives right now, and there is no place on the planet for people who remain stuck in old patterns that no longer serve their highest purpose. When the Universe presents you with new challenges, adjust your life to accommodate those new vibrations that are being presented to you, you don’t have to make radical changes, just discard what no longer feels positive and in this way, make way for the new vibrations. Above all, remain positive and next year can be a very rewarding one for you. Embrace the energy of Light and Oneness and feel the connection between all that is. As our planet ascends so too can everyone living on it, by raising their vibration accordingly to one of unconditional love towards All.

I extend my gratitude to everyone for allowing me to share in your life’s journey this year and wish you and your families many Blessings of Love, Light and Abundance on every level for the year ahead. May the Universe always keep you safe in its Loving, Positive Vibration. My deepest gratitude and love goes to all my Beloved Angels, Spiritual Guides and Archangel Michael, Archangel Raphael and Archangel Uriel as well as all the Ascended Masters and my family who stood by me during this year, without whose help I don’t know how I would have coped.
Namaste to everyone.

Linda
